Dunbar Sloane Auctions Company Information
General information
Dunbar Sloane Ltd is New Zealand's longest running auction house. We specialise in antiques, decorative art, fine art, fine wine, books, toys and dolls, jewellery, artefacts, coins and stamps, colonial collectables and general household wares.
The firm was started in 1918 by Andrew Dunbar Sloane, Lambton Quay, Wellington. Since then it has been kept in the family and is now in the hands of the third and fourth generation, Dunbar Russell Sloane and Dunbar Michael Sloane in Auckland.
Our Auckland branch was opened in 2000 and has recently moved to a new location. Dunbar Senior and Dunbar Junior are based at the Auckland office that specialises in the sale of militaria and Maori and Pacific artefacts and New Zealand historical items.
Our Wellington head office covers three floors in the heart of the city with two separate auction rooms. Our five 'in-house' experts have a combined experience of over 100 years.
Dunbar Sloane has achieved many New Zealand and international record prices for fine art, antiques and artefacts. Our sales often exceed 1000 lots and attract buyers and sellers from around the country and overseas bidders. Our loyal staff are very highly regarded in their fields of expertise.
We also specialise in chattel valuations for insurance, market, matrimonial and probate purposes.
