Northern Health School - South Auckland Unit

General information

We are one of three New Zealand health schools providing community, in-home and hospital based teaching to students who are too unwell to attend their regular school. We pride ourselves on providing individualised programmes tailored to meet the health and education needs of our students. This integrated service is, we believe, unique in the world and allows our teachers to provide a seamless service to each student, no matter what their treatment regime might be or where they may move to and from.

We have a close relationship with each of the other two health schools (Central Regional Health School - lower North Island, and Southern Regional Health School - South Island) which makes the service we offer a national one.

NHS teachers are based in several centres across the top half of the North Island and from there they cover the school's zone. Units include Whangarei, Auckland (North, Central and South, as well as in Starship Hospital and at Ronald McDonald House), Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo, Tauranga, Gisborne, Whakatane and Taranaki. We also have a number of specialist units, such as the Wilson Centre on Auckland's North Shore and Rongo Atea in Hamilton. Our main administrative office is based in Auckland.
